Toto came into ACC as a stray. He was returned from a trial adoption, so we have limited information about his behavior at home. Toto was returned due to growling and lunging at one of the adopters. Toto attempted to bite one of the adopters multiple times, but no contact was made. His trial adopters note that Toto will lunge at unfamiliar dogs, strangers, and small animals while on leash. His trial adopters note that he likes to sit on people's laps and that he enjoys pets. During his time in the care center, Toto has been noted to solicit pets from handlers and to allow for pickup. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
