ABOUT ME: I'm a big guy who is somehow still a total puppy, and I'd like to be part of everything you do. I claimed the window by my foster's desk right away and watch the courtyard like it's my job. I take squeaky toys very seriously and destroy them with pride. I once carried a teddy bear I found all the way home. And the head-in-your-lap thing? Not optional.

MY FOSTER SAYS: "He loves giving gentle kisses and resting his big head on you whenever he has the chance. Cannot stress enough how much of a gentle giant he is!"

HISTORY

Originally from the USVI, Tucks was attacked by a group of dogs and abandoned by his owner, arriving at the shelter in critical condition and nearly septic. His injuries required four days of emergency veterinary care, and he has since healed well. He traveled to Brooklyn in late March 2026.

DETAILED PROFILE

Tucks is a big, handsome young dog who is completely convinced he's still a puppy, and he's not entirely wrong. He is warm, goofy, and unambiguously affectionate, the kind of dog who parks himself beside you while you work and rests his head in your lap like he's been doing it for years. He greets people like he's been personally waiting for them all day.

He destroys squeaky toys with pride, once carried a teddy bear he found in the grass all the way home, and claimed the window by his foster's desk to supervise the courtyard. He's been spotted flopping onto the elevator floor to cool off, to the delight of his fellow riders. Squirrels and rats get his full attention; one evening he dove headfirst into a pepper planter in pursuit.

He's a moderate-to-active dog who needs a real outlet for his energy. He's smart and trainable, responds well to clear, consistent boundaries, and now sits politely to wait for his dinner. He's house trained, calm and quiet in his crate, and pretty good on leash, though bigger dogs nearby get him excited.

Tucks is gentle and sweet with people and does well with children, though given his size and strength a home without very young kids is the safest fit. He's selective with other dogs: he's done well with some, like a young puppy, and been uneasy around larger dogs, so any canine housemate should be a thoughtful match. His experience with cats isn't known yet.

Gentle kisses, a big head on your lap, and a willingness to wait outside the shower for you: that's the Tucks experience.

MEDICAL HISTORY

Tucks is up-to-date on required vaccinations, is neutered, and microchipped.

He tested positive for heartworm and still requires treatment. If Tucks is adopted prior to treatment, Badass will cover the cost of care. If you think Tucks might be a good fit for your home, we can share more details regarding his heartworm treatment plan
