Meet Tucker! 🐾
Tucker is an ~8-year-old, 8 lb Chihuahua mix from Texas by way of Alabama, and this tiny gentleman is ready to find his forever home!
Since arriving in Brooklyn, Tucker’s personality has completely blossomed. He is quite simply one of the sweetest, friendliest little guys around. Easygoing, affectionate, and equipped with a tail that seemingly never stops wagging, Tucker is the kind of dog who is just genuinely thrilled to be with his people.
His favorite activity? Following his humans wherever they go. If you’re on the couch, Tucker would very much like to be there too—preferably tucked into your arm, curled up on your chest, or burrowed beneath the softest blanket he can find. He takes his snuggling duties very seriously.
Tucker is also very food motivated and thinks treats of all varieties are an excellent idea. He eats like a champ and is making great progress with his training. He’s learning his name and recall, is reliably using pee pads, and is already pooping outside. His foster is now working with him on transitioning all of his business outdoors, and he’s getting better every day!
When it comes to adventures, Tucker prefers to take things at his own pace. He’s comfortable being leashed and picked up, but he’s not looking to become your marathon training partner. A leisurely 15–20 minutes spent sniffing around a quiet patch of grass is much more his speed. Loud noises can make him nervous, so he’s happiest exploring somewhere calm where he can put that Chihuahua nose to work.
And we cannot emphasize this enough: the tail. It wags constantly. Walk into the room? Tucker is delighted. Look in his direction? Delighted. Come home? His entire back end may get involved. No one will ever make you feel more appreciated for simply existing.
Tucker is also wonderful around other dogs. He’s peaceful and respectful—no aggression, no drama, and mostly happy to let everyone else do their thing. During the day, he’s an exceptionally chill little roommate who is content to burrow into a blanket and snooze deeply while you go about your business.
Tucker would thrive in a quieter, medium- to low-activity home where he can enjoy plenty of cozy time with his people. He’d be perfectly happy sharing his home with another dog, but he’d be equally thrilled to fly solo and soak up all the attention himself.
If your household is missing an 8-pound, blanket-burrowing, treat-loving professional snuggler with a wildly enthusiastic tail, Tucker just might be your guy. 💛
Tucker is scheduled to arrive in NYC on Saturday, August 22, ready to trade in his southern roots for city living. He's available for our foster / foster-to-adopt program.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
