HISTORY
Gooch was rescued from a shelter in Texas, where she arrived in a state of neglect and in need of some extra TLC. She traveled to Brooklyn in early June 2026.
DETAILED PROFILE
Gooch has a very specific way of asking for affection. She wiggles her whole body from across the room, takes a running start, and delivers the gentlest possible body slam, then leans in as hard as gravity allows until she's been sufficiently scratched. She sleeps with her tongue poking out, takes treats (even a cashew) with remarkable gentleness, and boops noses with the household cat.
Then there's the ball. Gooch is devoted to fetch. Her favorite part of the day is a nightly trip to the dog run, where she'll chase a ball for half an hour, then trot home content. She plays as long as you'll throw but isn't pushy about it, and she settles the moment it's put away. She has real stamina for long walks, a gift for full-speed zoomies, and a deep appreciation for a predictable routine.
New people take time. Gooch is cautious with strangers and does best when they let her make the first move, greet her at her level, and skip the pats on the head. She'll need an adopter who keeps introductions slow, advocates for her space, and continues the confidence-building training she's already started. A calmer home without young kids suits her best.
She's crate trained (she now wanders off to nap in her crate on her own), house trained, and good on leash, though food on the sidewalk needs a watchful eye. She already nails "leave it" around the cat's treats and is learning "stay" and "drop." She's lived peacefully with cats and a mellow senior dog; any canine housemate should be a careful match.
Snuggly, happy, and loyal, Gooch is at her best with an active, patient person who loves a good routine.
MEDICAL HISTORY
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
FOSTER TO ADOPT
Gooch is eligible for our limited foster-to-adopt program, which gives approved adopters the chance to welcome a dog into their home and get to know them before finalizing an adoption. The foster-to-adopt period typically lasts 2–4 weeks and follows our standard foster guidelines. Interested adopters should submit an adoption application noting their interest in the program and the specific dog—they can connect with the adoptions team for more details.
Just Rescues does not process applications. The rescue's page is authoritative.
