Thunder was surrendered to the care center as his previous owner could no longer afford to care for him. His previous owner describes Thunder as an affectionate, loving and gentle dog who really likes to be around people and loves going on walks with his family. He has also shown social behavior with staff on intake. Thunder is reported to have bitten a person when they tried to move him away from another dog in the home that he was agitated by. This was a bite and release that broke skin and did not require medical attention. Thunder also has some sensitivity to handling, lunging and snapping when his paws are touched. Due to the behaviors noted in his previous home, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
