Coco was surrendered to ACC as a stray with limited history. He previously was surrendered by his owner in 2021 due to his owner moving into a pet free building, but was later on adopted. His previous family described him as a friendly, affectionate dog whose favorite toy is a squeaky toy. They did note a variety of behavioral concerns, including resource guarding, destructive behavior, handling sensitivity. During his previous stay, he was noted to leash bite during the jog portion of his behavioral assessment. Coco has consistently displayed fearful behavior in his most recent assessment; he attempted to flee and was very avoidant of handlers and the leash. Due to behavior in the care center and in his previous home we recommend placement in an adult only home through a new hope partner.We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
