Tony Toni Tone was surrendered into care as a stray, so his past behavior in a home enviornment is unknown. Tony has not acclimated well to the shelter enviornment and has displayed a concerning level of arousal during his handling assessment. Tony has been wary of leashing but does well with a slow approach and treats. During the jog portion, Tony had a crouched posture, as if preparing to jump upward or lunge at the handler, while growling. Due to these concerns, we recommend that Tony be placed in an adult-only home through a New Hope rescue partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
