Meet Milo!

Milo was surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him. He is a sweet, social older gentleman who enjoys being around people and is known for his affectionate, easygoing nature once he is comfortable in a home environment. He can be vocal and expressive, but he is very people-oriented and enjoys companionship.

My Ideal Home

Milo would do best in a calm and loving home that can match his lower energy level and appreciate his affectionate, homebody personality. He enjoys being close to his people and thrives with routine, gentle structure, and continued support for his mild anxiety when left alone.

Good with Other Pets?

Milo is friendly with familiar dogs but may react to unfamiliar dogs on leash. He should be monitored around other animals and would do best with controlled introductions.

Good with Kids?

Due to his reactivity toward unfamiliar animals and need for a calm environment, Milo is recommended for a home without children under 13.

Things to Know

Milo is a low-energy, affectionate companion who enjoys relaxing at home, following his people around, and spending most of his day lounging. He is housetrained, enjoys car rides, and has experience with grooming and basic cues like sit and stay. He can be anxious when left alone and may bark or become vocal, so continued support around separation anxiety will be important. He walks with only mild pulling and is otherwise tolerant of handling and daily care. With consistency and reassurance, Milo shines as a loyal, loving companion who enjoys the simple comforts of home life.

Milo's favorite things include dressing up for photos, celebrating birthdays, and lounging like the perfect little couch companion with his people nearby.

A volunteer writes: The first time I meet Milo I am smitten by the way his little ears take flight on our walk, flapping in the breeze, as he shows off his loose leash skills. It's when we go spend time in the yard together, though, that I discover Milo is an exceptional conversationalist. As he meanders toward me he sends delicate little yips into the air followed by a full on serenade of glorious howls, worthy, in my opinion of a Metropolitan Opera soloist.

This is not Milo's first time in our shelter unfortunately. He was surrendered once before due to a domestic violence situation and then again due to health issues in his family. He is reported to have done well with the children and small dog in his previous home and is a "playful yet lazy couch potato" who "loves chicken". His hobbies included "dressing up in costumes for holidays and taking selfies" and "celebrating his birthday with party hats and cakes". He has also spent some time in foster where it was said he "was friends with all the doormen".

Medically, he has a mass which will need to be checked out.
