Knox was surrendered into care as a stray, so his past behavior in a home enviornment is unknown. Knox has not acclimated well to the shelter enviornment, remaining stiff-bodied and wary of interaction with handlers. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.

Meet Knox!

Knox is a handsome 3-year-old gray and white boy who is looking for a patient New Hope partner willing to give him the time and space he needs to decompress. As a stray, Knox's history is unknown, and the shelter environment has been overwhelming for him. He can be fearful and wary of touch, often becoming stiff-bodied or moving away when approached.

Knox does take treats and has shown that he can tolerate necessary handling when approached slowly and gently. He needs a quiet, adult-only environment where he can build trust at his own pace, with force-free, positive-reinforcement-based behavior support. Knox needs time to decompress to give his caregivers the opportunity to better understand the dog underneath his shelter stress.

Knox needs someone willing to let him go at his own pace-and give him the chance to show who he can be outside the shelter.
