Meet Atreus!
Atreus, also lovingly known as "Girlfriend," is a wiggly, affectionate girl who truly just wants to be your best friend. She's happiest right by your side-whether that's curled up on the couch, hanging out while you work, or joining you throughout your daily routine. She's the ultimate work-from-home companion and will gladly spend her day cuddling as close as possible.
Personality
Atreus is loving, goofy, and full of personality. She has absolutely no concept of personal space (which earned her the nickname "Elbows") and will happily climb into your lap or snuggle right up against you. She's also a champion burrower-if you're under a blanket, expect her to politely request access so she can tuck herself underneath. She can be a little chatty when she wants a walk or attention, but at heart she's eager to please.
Training & Behavior
Atreus is incredibly treat-motivated and loves to learn. She already knows many commands, including Sit, Down, Paw (her favorite), Stay, Come, Off, Bed, Crate, Place, and Kiss. She has great house manners and will relax in her bed during mealtime instead of begging. She's familiar with structured training (including the "123 game") and thrives with consistency and positive reinforcement.
Atreus is a natural city dog. She's comfortable with street noise, crowds, and busy environments. Thanks to her petite 40 lb frame, she has even learned to travel on the subway in an XL tote bag. She has experience as an office dog and adjusted quickly. She doesn't scavenge or eat food off the ground during walks and handles everyday distractions well. Atreus also rides nicely in the car-she may get excited at first, then settles in for a nap within minutes.
Daily Routine & Energy
Atreus is a medium-energy dog who is just as happy napping beside you as she is joining you on a long walk or hike. She currently enjoys four walks a day, including one longer 40-60 minute outing. She does have a strong prey drive and loves chasing squirrels and rats, so she may pull in park settings-but she tends to walk more calmly in the city. When she gets excited, she may jump or bark, but it's all out of love. To burn off extra energy, she loves a good game of tug-of-war. She enjoys bully sticks and puzzle feeders, but isn't very interested in squeaky toys.
Social Behavior
Atreus loves people and has no fear of strangers. She's very comfortable with handling, including having her paws touched. She walks calmly past other dogs and may enjoy canine friends with proper introductions. Due to her prey drive, she is not a fit for homes with cats or small animals. Because she can be a bit jumpy, she's not the best match for homes with small children.
My Ideal Home
Atreus would thrive with someone who wants a constant companion and is ready to give her the time, structure, and affection she deserves. If you're looking for a loving, cuddly, slightly goofy best friend-she's your girl.
