Meet Jimmy!

Jimmy was found wandering alone on the street and brought to a local precinct, where he was described as friendly during intake. This handsome boy has been social and people-oriented in care, and he's now looking for a home that can help him channel his enthusiasm into all the right outlets (especially if cheese is involved).

My Ideal Home

Jimmy would do well with an adopter who enjoys an active, playful dog and is ready to continue his training in a fun, positive way. He can get excited quickly and may grab or mouth the leash when amped up, so a home that can provide structure, enrichment, and reward-based training will help him shine. He'll thrive with consistency, clear boundaries, and plenty of engaging activities to keep his mind busy.

Good with Other Pets?

Jimmy has shown polite, neutral interest in another dog at the care center during a supervised introduction. His overall history with other animals is unknown, so slow, thoughtful introductions would be important if living with another pet.

Good with Kids?

Due to some observed guarding behavior around valued items and his tendency to get excited quickly, Jimmy is recommended for a home without children under 13 at this time.

He'll do best with calm guidance and positive reinforcement training. A volunteer writes: Jimmy is a classically handsome boy with a classic name. He waits patiently in his kennel and greets me with a soft, sweet expression that makes it easy to like him right away. Once outside, he lights up during play, especially with a favorite octopus toy he happily brings back over and over, dropping it into my lap to start the game again. He's social and people oriented, and during his time in care he's shown how much he enjoys interaction and enrichment. He also has a very relatable quirk: a strong appreciation for cheese, which may or may not have made a surprise appearance during his assessment. Jimmy is a fun, engaging dog who will shine in a home that can match his energy and continue helping him build good manners through positive reinforcement.

Fun Fact

Jimmy has a playful streak and a big personality hiding behind those sweet eyes, especially if there's a squeaky toy or a snack involved.

My Boroughbreaker writes: He did great on the boroughbreak! He was a bit anxious in the car and was panting and pacing around but he did eventually settle down, especially so when we gave him a chew which he demolished in the car. Once we got outside he got very excited about all the new sounds and smells. He loved being outside and was happy to explore and run around.
