Meet Sheba - she's a girl, she's a queen, she's the cuddliest, sweetest potato you’ll ever meet! 💕

Sheba is an approximate 4 year old, 55 lb mid-sized girl who has proven herself to be a cool, calm collected young lady. Since arriving in foster care, everything we have learned about her has made us fall even deeper in love with her beautiful soul.

In Sheba's short life she has proven to be smart, respectful, well-rounded and studious.

She has mastered her basic commands such as "sit" and "come" and she has also mastered cuddling up closely to person on the couch and eating as much spam as you will offer. Sheba also walks beautifully on leash. Outside Sheba is a loose leash walker, only applying some tension is she finds a direction she is really interested in, yet responds quickly and positively to gentle guidance to continue in your desired direction. She has shown that she loves to sniff and explore her community, has no interest in eating any sidewalk meals and can’t be bothered to chase moving subjects like skateboards, young children or small animals - a real dream come true.

Although Sheba does not live with other dogs or children, her baseline temperament suggest that she could do really well with them both. Sheba has historically responded sweetly to kids she has met outside and has shown all positive body cues with other dogs remaining curious, soft, wiggly, and eager to say hello.

Every day Sheba is becoming more comfortable being alone in her crate throughout the day. Although she may whine for a few minutes intiially, she has proven to be a brave girl who can settle herself and she also sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate. Sheba has become very familiar and quite enjoys the crate games she plays to build day time crate resilience.

Sheba is fully potty trained and should only be expected to have accidents as she adjusts to a new environment, similarly to any dog in transition.

In the home Sheba is a welcoming houseguest - easy going and low maintenance. Sheba adjusted exceptionally well in her foster home by being offered a little time to take things at her own pace before warming up and becoming a true, wiggly bundle of love. Additionally, in the home, Sheba's daily routine is cuddle, nap, eat, walk and repeat.

Sheba is a homebody and loves to hang inside, only showing slight fear by waking from her slumber for sporadic sounds like buzzers, heavy footsteps, or loud people on the street. Despite being aware of these sounds, Sheba does not bark and she settles back down very quickly - we love an aware-of-her-surroundings little lady.

Outdoors, Sheba is a real New Yorker and a true city girl. She is comfortable navigating stairs, the hustle and bustle of busy neighborhoods like the East Village, hanging out on the building stoop, riding the subway, and taking ubers across the city.

Overall, Sheba would make an amazing companion, fit into really any home and is truly a once in a lifetime kind of dog.
