Meet Iggy!

Iggy is an incredibly loving, playful, and devoted little companion, with just the right amount of impish mischief to keep life interesting. She’s happiest when she’s close to her person—whether curled up at your feet, nestled in your arms, or tucked beside you for a good nighttime spoon. In fact, personal space isn’t really her thing. If there’s an opportunity to cuddle, Iggy is all in.

She’s also something of a little household helper. Leave your socks on the floor and she’ll happily retrieve them and bring them right to you. Plush toys are another passion, and Iggy takes her responsibilities as their protector very seriously, making sure each one is safely tucked away in her crate before bedtime. She’s a girl who likes her comforts, her routines, and her people.

Iggy gets along well with her canine foster brother, who weighs about 33 pounds. She’s particularly fond of giving him kisses and snuggling up beside him. She’s still learning that sharing toys, respecting his personal space, and leaving his dinner plate alone are all part of being a good housemate. She responds well to a firm “no” when she gets a little possessive about her toys, and continued gentle, consistent guidance will help her develop good manners.

Food is definitely one of Iggy’s love languages. She’s a very enthusiastic eater and, if she’s not already by your side, the sound of the refrigerator opening will bring her running. Her enthusiasm for treats should make training a fun and rewarding experience. She’s a bright little dog who seems eager to learn, and we suspect she’ll pick up commands like sit, come, heel, and wait with a little consistency and encouragement. She may even have a future in show business: when she knows a treat is nearby, she’ll pop up onto her hind legs and walk like a tiny acrobat! She can also leap an impressive four feet in the air, particularly when she’s in the throes of a good case of the zoomies.

Iggy is comfortable with the canine companion she knows, but new dogs and unfamiliar people can make her a little shy at first. She’s also quite curious about them, and with patient introductions and time to build confidence, we expect she’ll continue to blossom. Her experience with cats and children is currently unknown.

Iggy is still working on her house-training. She’s reliably using wee-wee pads for bowel movements and is learning to use them consistently for urination, too. She may have spent much of her previous life indoors, so we’re taking things slowly as she builds confidence about going outside. For now, pad training is working best, and she’ll benefit from a patient adopter willing to continue helping her establish a routine.

As a Chinese Crested, Iggy is a low- to no-shed companion. Her hair is currently a little patchy around her head and paws, but we anticipate it may fill in over the coming weeks as she settles into her new life in the Northeast. After her journey from rural Georgia to New York City, she deserves a little time to decompress and get comfortable.

For the most part, Iggy is a quiet little housemate. She may offer a yap or two if she’s startled awake from a nap, hears a knock at the door, or spots someone passing by the window, but she quickly settles once she realizes everything is okay.

Above all, Iggy is a devoted little lovebug who wants nothing more than to belong to someone. She’s playful, affectionate, clever, and full of personality. Give her a cozy place to land, a few plush toys to tuck in at night, some tasty treats, and a person to spoon, and Iggy will be one very happy girl.

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at WaldosRescue.org and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog. We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States and Korea.

Just Rescues does not process applications. The rescue's page is authoritative.
