Hello! My name is Shaggy and I’ve traveled a long way to meet you! I form strong bonds and adore my foster mom! I love making new human friends, but I would prefer slow introductions. Please respect my space! I love belly rubs, food, and chasing my ball! I also love to run, but my foster mom says I'm not allowed because of my lung condition. I'm looking for a human who will love me unconditionally and make sure I stay happy and healthy. Could that be you?
Shaggy has a known medical condition called pulmonary fibrosis, which is a chronic, progressive, uncommon lung disease. Unfortunately, PF is a progressive condition with no known cause. The average lifespan for a dog with this condition is 11 months from the time of diagnosis, although some animals live as long as 3-4 years. Adopters should be aware of and comfortable with understanding that they could be providing Shaggy a home for the remaining few months of his life, however long that may be.
Shaggy is approximately 7y 3m 25d old and is fully grown at 10.6 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done.
Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.
