My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Alpine is full of playful energy, equally enthusiastic about walking on the trails of Central Park and cuddling on a park bench. She would make a fantastic running buddy--when joggers passed us on the trail, Alpine itched to take off running with them. She brought the same exuberant energy to encounters with geese and other dogs (but was able to move on fairly quickly).
She wasn't all zoomies! Though it took her a few minutes to warm up to receiving physical affection, Alpine soon became comfortable jumping into my lap, leaning into me, and rolling over for belly rubs. She was interested in treats, so we practiced "sit" with some success. She showed anxiety around construction on our way to the park, but I didn't notice her become fearful during our walk.
Alpine would make the perfect adventure companion--she'll walk (or run!) with you for hours and hop into your lap to cuddle at the end of the day. In a home where she can get her zoomies out and build her confidence, Alpine will blossom!
My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Alpine is a wonderful, gentle dog with so much potential! She is a bit shy at first, but once you earn her trust, she will show your her zoomies-filled, playful, and affectionate side. One of her favorite things to do is to sit in the grass in the nice, warm sun. She loves people watching and cozying up next to her handler to share the moment. Once she became comfortable with me, she gave a lovely "hug" by resting her head gently on my shoulder as I gave her pets. She doesn't know tricks yet, but is treat motivated. Her leash manners are impeccable With other dogs, she can become anxious or impulsive. She is a bit nervous around men. She loves to play in water and will do little excited hops when she sees something she's interested in. Alpine would do great in an adult home with people that can see beyond anxiety and help her feel safe to show her true self.
Alpine arrived at MACC as a stray with no known history. While in care, Alpine has been observed to be fearful. Noted to have a tense body and flinch when handlers initiate contact. During their assessment, Alphine had a tense face and showed whale eye after the handler attempted to prt them. Due to the detailed behavior, we recommend an experienced adult only home.
