Pop-Up Promo! ACC is over capacity, so I'm currently living in a pop-up crate. My adoption fees are waived, and my adoption comes with a $50 Chewy gift card.
Meet Taja!
Taja arrived at ACC as a stray, and while we don't know much about her past, we know this sweet girl is hoping for a fresh start. The shelter environment can feel like a lot for Taja, but beneath her nerves is a gentle pup who is ready to build trust with a patient person. Give her some quiet time, tasty treats, and a little space, and you'll begin to see her sweet personality shine.
My Ideal Home
Taja would flourish in a calm, low-traffic home with someone who understands that confidence grows one small step at a time. She will benefit from slow introductions, a predictable routine, and positive reinforcement training to help her feel safe and secure. Her future family should be ready to let Taja set the pace as she adjusts to her new surroundings.
Good with Other Pets?
Taja's history with other animals is unknown. She has met dogs while at ACC and may become overwhelmed by overly enthusiastic interactions, so slow and thoughtful introductions will be important to help her feel comfortable.
Good with Kids?
Due to Taja's shy and sensitive nature, an adult-only home is recommended at this time. She would do best with people who can respect her boundaries and allow her to approach new experiences when she feels ready.
Things to Know
Taja is a tender-hearted girl who is learning that the world can be a safe place. She is treat-motivated and has shown that with patience and gentle encouragement, she can start to open up. Taja may be a little shy at first, but she has so much love waiting for the person who gives her the time and kindness she deserves.
A volunteer writes: Taja is the type of dog in the shelter who hurts my heart. Due to overcrowding at the shelter she is spending her days in a pop up crate in a crowded, noisy room. When it's time for a walk she can be fearful outside, trembling and hesitant to walk. With a little coaxing and treats, though, she is able to take advantage of this bit of fresh air and sunshine and begins sniffing her way down the block. Soon she is in full sniffari mode and leaves not a blade of grass uninvestigated, happy to take a leisurely stroll.
She is the kind of dog I imagine has a whole personality hiding underneath her shelter nervousness, ready to unveil itself in a gentle home where she can take things at her own pace.
Taja came to us in June as a stray when a man found her as a stray wandering in Cambria Heights. She is available to a Level 4 adopter, adult only home.
Her adoption fee is waived as part of the shelter's pop up crate adoption promotion. Her adopter will also receive a $50 Chewy gift card.
