Meet Jack!

Jack is a handsome, affectionate pup looking for an experienced family who can help him continue building confidence and learning new skills. While Jack has had some big changes in his life recently, he has shown that he is a friendly guy who enjoys spending time with people and exploring the world around him. With patience, structure, and positive reinforcement, Jack is ready to find a home where he can thrive.

My Ideal Home

Jack would do best with an experienced adopter who understands canine body language and is committed to helping him practice calm behaviors. He is an active dog who will benefit from daily exercise, enrichment, and reward-based training. A predictable routine and patient approach will help Jack feel comfortable and set him up for success.

Good with Other Pets?

Jack has shown some interest in other dogs and has had positive moments meeting canine friends. However, he can become tense and fixate on dogs while on leash, so continued training and slow introductions will help him have successful interactions. A front-clip harness and positive reinforcement training can help him focus on his person during walks.

Good with Kids?

Due to Jack's tendency to become over-aroused and mouthy during exciting situations, an adult-only home is recommended. He would do best with someone who can recognize his communication signals and help him stay calm before he becomes overwhelmed.

Things to Know

Jack is a sweet dog who enjoys affection, but he prefers interactions on his own terms and appreciates slow introductions. His previous family reported that he can become overexcited and mouthy, especially during high-stress situations like grooming, so he will need continued work on impulse control and calm handling. Jack has shown that he can be a wonderful companion, and a patient adopter willing to help him succeed will have a loyal friend by their side.

Volunteer Notes

A volunteer writes: Jack is perfect as far as we're concerned! He's gorgeous, kind, and friendly to everyone he meets. During outings, Jack has shown his gentle nature, calmly handling distractions and enjoying time with his people. He walks nicely on leash, appears housetrained, and is even a champion cuddler who loves sharing a bench with his favorite humans. Jack has so much love to give and is hoping someone will give him the chance to show them just how special he is.

My#BoroughBreak Buddy writes:
Jack was a good boy . He's big but well behaved . He pulls on leash a little but quickly adjusts with redirection . Knows sit and gently takes treats out of your hand . A lovable big strong derp .
