Monie is a social butterfly who loves making connections with people. She is eager to engage, enjoys affection, and has a playful personality that makes every interaction fun. She can get a little overexcited and may jump up or use her mouth when playing, but with consistent positive reinforcement and fun training games, she is ready to learn.

She's gonna kiss ya! I immediately tell Monie's local neighborhood fans whenever they insist on saying hello to this enthusiastic raccoon faced heart stealing bandit of a pup. She loves soaking up the attention, not just in public of course. At home, Monie has been a considerate, respectful, and friendly houseguest. She asks for comfort and appreciates the opportunity and it shows in her behavior. Monie is observant and seemed to pick up on the house vibes pretty quickly. She is an active gal so her walks are very important for you and for her; treats and plenty of water seem to be very much appreciated; toys galore because a loving life and making the most of it gal like Monie has to exercise her choices; and naturally, a nice quiet comfortable spot of her own to stretch out her toes after a hard day of being fabulous (except she will try to make that spot your bed and your couch to relax with you of course).
Monie seems to be responding well to a quiet and calm environment. Monie is not much of a barker at home, except for the typical unfamiliar sounds like loud and bustling city noises or some passing foot traffic in the building. She checks in with you for reassurance and now seems to understand, "It's Ok", before she plops her head back down to continue her snooze. Monie is an excellent communicator and uses her body language to express her needs. She politely asks for treats by nose booping the PB jar, looking at you, and then looking at her kong.

Monie may watch you eat for a few minutes, but will soon just move on with her life; she does not whine or beg for human food. Monie understands some cues accompanied by gesture(hand gestures seem to resonate) including sit, stay, paw, up, stop, look at me, come here, wait, turn, and straight. Monie is house trained and after her own personal inspection, has no interest in the available in house crate, but she feels that the dog gate is acceptable, if necessary. This gal shows a lot of potential and will continue to shine if given a real chance.

My Boroughbreaker writes: I spent the day with Monie in Central Park, and she was the perfect companion. She walks well on her leash and is friendly with both adults and children. During our walk, she was not reactive to bikes, skateboards, or cars, though she does pull when she sees other dogs. We did not interact with other dogs, so I am unsure how she would be with them.
When we took a break, she plopped right down next to me and rolled onto her belly for rubs. We received many compliments on how pretty she is! Monie will make a great sidekick, and I hope she finds her loving forever home soon.

My Boroughbreaker writes: Monie stole my heart before our borough break even began. When she was walked out to meet me, she was proudly carrying a tiny purple plush koala, happily tossing it in the air and catching it herself. Naturally, our first stop had to be the pet store so she could pick out a few more toys. After choosing some new stuffies, we headed to Central Park for a stroll and some time relaxing in the grass. Monie is a great walker, and when we found a shady spot for a water break, I brought out her new toys. She was absolutely delighted. She rolled around on her back in the grass with her stuffies, squeaked them with enthusiasm, and happily entertained herself without destroying a single one. Watching her play was impossible not to smile at. Monie is such a fun, spunky girl, and her adorable little raccoon markings only add to her charm. We also stopped for a pup cup, which she gobbled up. She never barked during our day together and only showed a little extra interest when passing other dogs. She's highly treat-motivated and redirected easily, making it clear she's eager to learn and would be a joy to train. More than anything, Monie seems to be looking for life's simple pleasures: toys to carry around, belly rubs, a cozy couch, and someone to love. Beneath her goofy, playful personality is an incredibly sweet girl who would love a family of her own. If you're looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you company, and remind you to find joy in the little things, Monie might be your perfect match.
