Hazel is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, energetic and intelligent pup. She has excellent crate obedience, is polite and non-possessive around food, and shows no discomforts in paw touching/cleaning. When not overstimulated outdoors, she is impressively obedient and intelligent, intuiting commands to come, stop, enter her crate, leave furniture, etc, and responds very well to treat training. Hazel bonds quickly and likes to stay close to her owner.
Hazel is easily overstimulated on busy streets. Joggers and cyclists passing close by can cause her to lunge in panic, and loud noises (such as Manhattan traffic) cause her to pull on her lead. She has difficulty calming down to 'go potty' in noisy, public areas, and becomes fixated on squirrels and birds. Hazel has not shown aggression to other dogs, but is so far inadequately socialised and will "play rough" (jumping and scratching) even with small dogs, leading to snarling and squabbling. Hazel alerts at typical apartment noises (like upstairs neighbors moving chairs).
If not sufficiently exercised in the day, Hazel can become very energetic in the evening. She loves to dig, run and throw her toys around.
Hazel is approximately 0y 10m 3d old and may be 51 to 63 pounds when fully grown. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done.
Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.
