Yami Asta was surrendered by his previous owner due to housing issues. His previous family described him as a social, affectionate, very active, and playful dog who can be vocal and prefers contact on his own terms. Yami is reproted ot pend most of his time either where his people were, the living room, or in his crate. During his stay in care, Yami has not acclimated well. He can be reluctant to walk and has pancaked. He will press himself against the wall while taking a few steps in short bursts. He has shown social behaviors with select handlers in calmer settings, but he appears highly anxious - panting heavily, pacing, unable to settle/focus - and can intermittently be reluctant to walk. Due to these concerns, we recommend that Yami be placed with a New Hope partner who can give him the time and space to decompress and acclimate at his pace.
