Duncan was surrendered to the care center as a stray, so we have no history on his behavior in home environment. Duncan has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has shown high levels of fear during his stay. On intake, he growled at staff as they removed him from his crate, though allowed them to leash him. During his handling assessment, he was shaking and had a tense, low body throughout, leaning into and attempting to hide behind a handler. Due to his fearful behavior, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
