Meet Will!
Will is a long-stay resident who arrived through NYPD after his owner experienced housing insecurity, and he's been waiting patiently for his chance at a fresh start. He's an energetic, social boy with a big personality who's ready for someone who can help channel all that enthusiasm into positive outlets.
My Ideal Home
Will would do best in an active home that can keep up with his energy and help him continue building impulse control through structure and enrichment. He thrives with mental stimulation like food puzzles, long-lasting chews, sniff games, and consistent daily exercise. He'll shine with a patient adopter who enjoys training and can help him turn his excitement into good manners.
Good with Other Pets?
Will should be the only pet in the home. He has shown strong interest in small animals at the shelter and has a reported history of conflict with other dogs, so a dog-free home is recommended.
Good with Kids?
Due to his exuberance and tendency to jump up, ACC recommends a home without very young children. He may be open to older, dog-savvy kids with proper introductions.
Things to Know
Will is a bright, affectionate dog who sometimes struggles with impulse control when he's excited. He may jump up, counter-surf, or become overly focused on food, but he is also responsive to handlers and enjoys engagement and training. On leash, he can pull moderately and occasionally fixate on treats, so continued practice with leash manners and structure will help him succeed. With consistency, enrichment, and positive reinforcement, Will has so much potential to thrive in a home environment.
Fun Fact
If you've got treats, Will already thinks you're his favorite person-and he'll happily prove it with all his goofy enthusiasm and nonstop charm.
