ABOUT ME: I've got a lot of personality packed into a low-key little body. I'll spin in happy circles when you walk in, make my funny grumbly noises, and play footsie until you laugh. Walks are short and sweet, then it's straight to cuddle mode. I say hi to everyone. I'm still getting the hang of being on my own, but good company? That I've mastered.

MY FOSTER SAYS: "She is a very funny dog with a big personality! When you get home she growls/howls at you like an Ewok. It's adorable! It's also hilarious when she decides she wants to walk around the block because she walks like she's on a mission but then fizzles out halfway around."

HISTORY

Babka is from New York City, where she lived with her owner from puppyhood. When her owner was no longer able to care for her, she was surrendered to the rescue in late July 2026.

DETAILED PROFILE

Babka is proof that a low-key dog can still be the most entertaining one in the room. She's goofy, friendly, and endlessly curious, greeting people with a spin of delighted circles and a whole repertoire of funny grumbly, almost Ewok-ish noises she deploys at will. She'll play footsie, investigate everything, and generally keep you laughing.

Her energy runs low, which suits her just fine. A short walk to stretch her legs followed by a long stretch of cuddling is her ideal day, and she's especially fond of a battery-powered cat toy she'll chase around until she finally catches it.

She's friendly and outgoing with people, walking right up to anyone who wants to say hello, and she's been comfortable with kids of all ages she's met. She's lived alongside other dogs and does well with them, though she's just as content being the only dog. She hasn't been around cats yet, so that's still an unknown.

Babka is house-trained and walks on a leash, though leash manners are still coming along. She isn't a fan of the crate, and she's still learning to feel comfortable on her own, so she'll do best with someone who's around often and can ease her into alone time.

For a quiet little homebody, she has a remarkable number of opinions, and she's ready to share every one of them with a person of her own.
