Meet Nyla!
Nyla is a sweet, energetic girl who got a little taste of home life after spending two weeks with her finders. They describe her as a high-energy pup who can be playful and loves having things to do, and she already has experience with everyday home routines. She's a sensitive girl who may take some time to warm up to new people, but with the right person by her side, Nyla is ready to keep growing into her best self.

My Ideal Home
Nyla would love an active home where she can enjoy plenty of walks, enrichment, and fun adventures with her people. She's looking for someone who can help her build confidence and give her a predictable routine while she settles in. Food puzzles, long-lasting chews, and games will be great ways to keep this energetic girl happily busy.

Good with Other Pets?
Nyla's finders don't know of any previous experience with other dogs. She was interested enough to briefly sniff another dog during a recent introduction, but became unsure and chose to stay close to the gate, so any future introductions should be slow and thoughtful. For now, a controlled setting is a better fit for Nyla than a busy dog park.

Good with Kids?
Nyla would do best with older, dog-savvy children who can give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable. She's a sensitive girl who may be hesitant around new people and will do best when interactions are calm, patient, and respectful.

Things to Know
Nyla can be a little shy with new people and handling, but she has shown that she can warm up with gentle coaxing and plenty of time. Her finders also noticed that being alone can be hard for her, so her new family should be prepared to help her gradually feel more comfortable on her own, while also continuing her house-training routine. This sweet girl has plenty of energy and plenty of potential, and she's looking for someone who will help her feel safe, confident, and right at home.

A volunteer writes: When I first spot Nyla curled up in the corner of her tiny kennel, in a room for grooming that's been repurposed as an overflow room, her resemblance to a small deer is uncanny: She appears more fawn than dog with her slight build and quiet, gentle nature. A sign on her kennel advising to go slow indicates she's a little shy, but her friendly and sociable demeanor is evident the moment we meet. Walking through the shelter hallways, she's eager to greet her new friends (staff and volunteers), and we enjoy a nice stroll through the neighborhood.

Nyla arrived after her guardian left her with a friend to pet sit for two weeks and then never returned for her. She lived with two children and two adults, and her experience with other animals in the home is unknown. Upon intake, Nyla was friendly with staff, and had a loose and wiggly body when approached and accepted treats gently. As a young, active dog, she'll benefit from a home that provides her with adequate enrichment for her needs. The person she lived with for two weeks noted she loves taking three to four walks a day and hanging out in the living room. She's said to be fearful of loud noises and anxious when left alone.
