Ruby was surrendered into care due to his owners' ongoing medical concerns and moving out of state, which made them unable to take him with them. Ruby's previous family described him as a dog that prefers contact on his own terms and spent most of his time outdoors. He is reported to love car rides, loves to play with toys, his favorite game being fetch, and loves treats and chicken. His previous owner did note that he is reactive to other dogs and strangers. Ruby is noted ot have bitten in the previous home due to resource guarding. The bite did break the skin and drew blood. Due to the concerns reported in the previous home and during his stay in care, we recommend that Ruby be placed in an adult-only home through a New Hope partner that can address his behavioral challenges with the use of a certified professional trainer that utilizes positive reinforcement methods only.
