Winnie is an absolute cuddle bug. She loves being close to her people and seems happiest when she can curl up right next to you. If you sit on the couch, she’ll happily hop up and settle beside you. If you’re in bed, she’ll come snuggle in there too. Once she feels comfortable, she loves rolling onto her back for belly scratches, and she will happily curl herself into your arms and fall asleep. She is an incredibly affectionate little dog who clearly loves having people to call her own.

She is also very easygoing. She is calm and quiet around the home, no barking, no whining, and the only time we have really heard her bark is when she spots a squirrel—she is very interested in squirrels and would definitely like to chase them if given the chance! Otherwise, she is peaceful and sweet. She lets us brush her coat, touch her paws, clip her nails, check her ears, and even bathe her without any fuss.

For a 10-year-old girl, Winnie has great energy. She is curious, social, and very happy to go on walks. She walks beautifully on leash, has no trouble with stairs, and can comfortably enjoy longer walks. When she sees you get the leash, she get's super excited! Her favorite thing is being outdoors. She loves sitting in the park and watching squirrels and dogs passing by. She has also been very sweet with other dogs, and she passed a cat today on the street without doing more than look at him.

Winnie can get a little overwhelmed in busy environments with lots of people. We have taken her on the subway, and while it definitely isn’t her favorite activity, she has handled it well if feeling "tucked in". We have also noticed that she can become frightened if a jogger runs directly toward or very close past her, and she may lunge toward them. She is small and easy to manage on leash, but she seems to feel safest when people approach her calmly rather than suddenly or quickly. In the car she just crawled up on our lap and laid calmly there during the whole ride.

Only twice had she peed inside, it was during the first day of arrival. Probably due to stress over the change of environment. After that she does her needs outdoors.
She's not a big fan of the crate, but when she's in there, she's calm and mostly just lay there, waiting to be let out.

Above all, Winnie is a sweet, gentle, affectionate companion who wants to be part of your life. She wants to be beside you on the couch, snuggled against you in bed, or simply nearby while you go about your day. She has so much love to give and would be wonderful for someone looking for a loyal little companion who truly loves being close to her people.

Winnie is approximately 10y 1m 2d old and is fully grown at 16.5 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done.

Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.
