Meet Little Prince!

Little Prince came to ACC as an owner surrender and is looking for a patient, experienced home where he can feel safe and understood. He can be a little cautious with handling and may become defensive when frightened or startled, so he needs someone who will respect his boundaries and give him time to build trust. He has a sweet side and was social and easy to walk when he first arrived at ACC.

My Ideal Home

Little Prince would do best with an experienced, adult-only adopter who understands canine body language and is comfortable working with a dog who can be sensitive to handling. A calm, predictable home with positive-reinforcement training will help him feel more secure. He should have his own space and should never be forced into handling or have valued items taken from him without a safe trade.

Good with Kids?

No. Due to Little Prince's potential for defensive behavior when frightened and his resource guarding history, ACC recommends an adult-only home.

Good with Other Pets?

Little Prince's history with other pets is unknown. A recent dog introduction showed increasing tension, so he is recommended for a single-pet home and should not visit dog parks.

Overall Health

Little Prince is an older gentleman with some ongoing medical needs, including chronic eye disease and dental concerns. He recently recovered from a respiratory infection and will benefit from continued veterinary follow-up, particularly for his eyes.

Behavior Determination

Level 4 - Experienced, adult-only, single-pet home. Little Prince has a history of resource guarding and can be fearful and sensitive to handling. He has previously escalated quickly when frightened, including lunging and snapping during a veterinary exam, so his adopter should be prepared to use calm, reward-based handling and work with a qualified behavior professional.

Other Fun Facts

Little Prince enjoys treats and toys and will happily follow along when he feels comfortable. He can walk nicely on leash and, with a patient approach and plenty of positive reinforcement, may show you the affectionate companion hiding beneath his cautious exterior.
