HISTORY
Cyrique is from the island of Dominica; no information about his history before he was rescued is available. He traveled to Brooklyn in late June 2026.
DETAILED PROFILE
Cyrique decides about new people on his own terms. He watches, he weighs, and once he trusts you, he’s all in. He’s a goofy, clumsy, inquisitive guy with moderate energy whose favorite thing in the world is being close to his person. He settles in for long cuddle sessions, stayed glued to his foster’s side when she was sick, and once flopped down beside her to copy her exact pose at the computer.
He adores his balls and chew toys, prances and jumps after them during zoomies, and has finally (mostly) cracked fetch: the ball comes back to your general area. He loves other dogs, too. He’s tail-wagging but cautious at first, then happily wrestles on the couch with dog friends, and a confident canine sibling could help him feel even more at ease.
New people take him time. He’s genuinely nervous and shy at first and needs an unhurried, low-key introduction. He’ll do best in a calm, patient home with an adopter who has known a fearful dog before. He’s lived with school-age kids and, once he trusted them, was snuggling right up, at one point falling asleep with his head on a child’s knee. Older children are a good fit; a home with toddlers isn’t recommended. He recently met a cat on the street and approached gently, tail wagging, with no interest in chasing, so cats look promising but are still being assessed.
On the practical side, he’s house-trained and crate-trained, and he’s working on leash manners. Like any dog in a new home, he may need a refresher on the basics as he settles.
Cyrique is a gentle, devoted shadow in the making, happiest trailing the person he has chosen from room to room.
MEDICAL HISTORY
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs will be addressed prior to adoption.
A medical history can be sent to applicants and approved adopters.
Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption but can also be sent pre-adoption, upon request.
Just Rescues does not process applications. The rescue's page is authoritative.
