HISTORY

Cyrique is from the island of Dominica; no information about his history before he was rescued is available. He traveled to Brooklyn in late June 2026.

DETAILED PROFILE

Cyrique decides about new people on his own terms. He watches, he weighs, and once he trusts you, he's all in. He's a goofy, clumsy, inquisitive guy with moderate energy whose favorite thing in the world is being close to his person. He'll trail you up and down the stairs, settle in for long cuddle sessions, and once flopped down beside his foster to copy her exact lying-down pose at the computer. He adores his balls and chew toys, prances and jumps after them, and is puzzling his way through the concept of fetch.

New people take him time. He's genuinely nervous and shy at first and needs an unhurried, low-key introduction, warming up faster when nobody pushes the moment. For that reason he'll do best in a calm, patient, low-traffic home with an adopter who has known a fearful dog before, and most likely a home without young children, though calm teens are fine.

A few things are still coming into focus as he settles in: he hasn't lived with cats, and his fit with other dogs is still being sorted out, though he clearly likes them and his early meetings have been tail-wagging and friendly.

On the practical side, he's house-trained, settles calmly in his crate after a good walk, and is still learning leash manners in the city. He isn't especially food-motivated, so training rewards patience over speed. Cyrique is a gentle, devoted shadow in the making, happiest trailing the person he has chosen from room to room.

MEDICAL HISTORY

The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs will be addressed prior to adoption.
