Shine Bright Like a Diamond was surrendered to the care center by her owner due to their housing situation. She is described by her previous owner as a very affectionate dog who loves to cuddle under the covers and take naps, play outside with toys, and snack on peanut butter and apples. Shine Bright Like a Diamond has not acclimated well to the care center environment, and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. While she has mostly been avoidant of handling, she escalated to lunging at a staff member when attempting to remove her from her crate, and growled during her medical examination. Due to her fearful behavior, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide a period of decompression, any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based), and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
