David was surrendered into care as a stray, so his past behavior in a home environment is unknown. David has not acclimated well to the shelter environment. During his medical exam he was initially loose-bodied and solicited attention, though began to bark, growl, and head whip when staff started to handle him. He was unable to undergo a handling assessment due to moving away, tensing, and growling. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
