Meet Sky!

Sky lost her home when her owner could no longer care for her, and she's looking for a patient person who will help her feel safe and comfortable again. This sweet girl may take some time to warm up in new situations, but when she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle affection and will happily lean in for cheek rubs. Sky is ready to find a home where she can relax, decompress, and be loved at her own pace.

My Ideal Home

Sky would do best with an experienced, patient adopter who understands canine body language and will give her the time and space she needs to build trust. A calm, predictable environment and positive, reward-based training will help Sky feel more confident as she adjusts to her new home.

Good with Other Pets?

Sky previously lived with another dog, but she has limited experience with unfamiliar dogs. She would benefit from slow, thoughtful introductions and should not visit dog parks at this time.

Good with Kids?

Sky would do best in an adult-only home where her boundaries can be respected and she can continue building confidence in a calm environment.

Sky is a medium-energy pup who enjoys walks and spending time with her people. She can be sensitive when it comes to handling and prefers to make the first move when meeting new friends. She also feels strongly about her favorite things, including food, treats, and toys, so her future family should use positive reinforcement and careful management around her special treasures. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will reward your patience with trust and affection, Sky may be your perfect match.

My Boroughbreaker writes: Sky is the sweetest dog - she is calm at the park and a cuddle bug at home. She loves meeting new people (especially if they have her favorite treat!) and playing fetch and tug of war. She was so excited from the moment we met her and charmed every person we came across.

A volunteer writes: Out of the nearly 200 dogs currently living at the Queens care center right now, I must admit that it's Sky who consistently lives in my head rent-free. With her chonky frame, perfectly floppy ears, and tiny legs, her appearance is endlessly endearing, and she has the sweetest personality to match. Her cute little strut turns heads, and she's an excellent loose-leash walker as we explore the neighborhood.

Sky was surrendered when her guardian had to leave the country, and she lived with adults, children and several other dogs in the home. A social butterfly, she is said to have been friendly and outgoing with visitors and tolerant of strangers. Her previous family described her as a social and affectionate dog, and we can 100% confirm that-she's always happy to get some scritches and regularly checks in with us on walks. Her family noted that she enjoyed spending most of her time around her people and that she especially loves car rides! At the care center, she's been militantly housebroken, and making the best she can of life in a crate located in a small overflow room.
