Troy was surrendered by his previous owner due to their personal situation not allowing them to provide care for him. His previous owner stated that he loves going on long walks, lounging in the living room, playing with chewy toys, and rubbing on you like a cat for pets. Troy has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. He remains stiff-bodied and will avoid interaction and only approaches handlers for treats. When attempting a handling assessment, he was stiff-bodied and hard-stared at the handler when touched. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
