Rex-a-Roni was surrendered to the care center by his previous owner due to the owner's medical situation. He is described by his previous owners as a friendly, social, independent dog who loves car rides. Rex-a-Roni has shown fearful behavior at the care center, in particular reluctance to be leashed, where he has backed up and flinched away from handlers. However, he has been easy to handle and walk once out of the kennel. Due to his fearful behavior, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide a period of decompression, any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
