Andre was surrendered to the care centers by his previous owners due to their housing situation. His previous owners describe him as curious, gentle dog who enjoys quality time with his family, is crate trained, is always leaning in for pets, and loves to cuddle in laps despite his size. Andre has not acclimated well to the care center environment, and has allowed only minimal handling since intake, showing fearful behavior during intake, medical examination, and handling assessment. Due to his level of fear, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide decompression, any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
