Meet Floyd!

Floyd came to ACC when his owner could no longer care for him. This gentle guy may be a little shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality starts to shine through. Floyd enjoys taking things at his own pace and is looking for a patient person who will help him build confidence and feel safe in his new home.

My Ideal Home

Floyd would thrive in a calm, predictable environment with an adopter who understands that trust takes time. Slow introductions, positive reinforcement, and plenty of patience will help Floyd feel comfortable as he adjusts to his new life. He is looking for someone who will celebrate the small victories and give him the space he needs to blossom.

Good with Other Pets?

Floyd's history with other animals is unknown, but he has shown interest in meeting other dogs while at ACC. He may enjoy canine companionship with the right match, but slow introductions will be important to help him feel comfortable and successful.

Good with Kids?

Due to Floyd's shy and sensitive nature, an adult-only home is recommended at this time. He would do best with people who can respect his boundaries and allow him to approach new experiences at his own pace.

Things to Know

Floyd is a sensitive sweetheart who is learning that the world can be a safe place. He enjoys exploring, playing with toys, and checking in with his favorite people once he feels comfortable. This handsome boy may need a little extra time to warm up, but with patience and kindness, Floyd is ready to become someone's loyal companion.

A volunteer writes: It's tough to stand out at an overcrowded shelter when you're another black-and-white pittie-type dog swimming in a sea of similar faces. Especially so when you're a shy boy, living in a crate in a room that isn't accessible to the public.

But Floyd is a special, sensitive little guy, and he's won over volunteers and staff since he arrived at the care center at the end of June. He was initially quite scared to leave his crate, but has increasingly warmed up - a hot tip that treats are the way to his heart! Now he solicits attention from us and will happily accept pets on our walks around the neighborhood, a more trusting nature slowly but surely shining through.

Floyd seems understandably confused about how his life changed overnight, from living in a home to sleeping in a crate night after night in a noisy, unfamiliar room. He was brought to a local police station when his person stated someone else in the home no longer wanted him there. They left only a note that he is allergic to chicken and coconut oil. (We have also learned that he's militantly housebroken.) Several days after arriving, Floyd was re-introduced to the harness he came in wearing, sniffed it for a while, then began to cry. :(

At the shelter, Floyd has seemed interested in meeting other dogs, and may enjoy companionship with them with proper introductions and the right match.
