Bobby was surrendered to the care center due to his previous owner's housing situation. His previous owner describes Bobby as an affectionate, active dog who loves to play with plushies (especially tug of war), enjoys car rides, and will follow his family from room to room. Bobby has not acclimated well to the care center environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. He has been highly fearful, escalating to growling, barking, and snapping at the leash when being removed from his kennel. In calmer settings and with time to warm up, he has shown social behavior with known handlers. Due to his behavior in the care center, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can allow for decompression, provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based), and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
