Tanuki was surrendered to a shelter because he "won't walk or move anywhere" but the real reason turned out to be lumbar spondylosis, arthritis, and heartworm disease. With limited options at the shelter, we brought him into rescue, treated his heartworms, and started him on pain management.

Tanuki's transformation has been remarkable. He's happy, comfortable, and living with a whole new lease on life, soaking up every bit of love that comes his way and returning it twofold. With other dogs he's wonderfully polite, and we suspect he'd be just as easygoing with cats. Two things really make him light up - soaking in a pool and playing fetch!
