Meet Lantana!

Lantana is a 2-year-old, 15-lb Jack Russel/Chihuahua mix who is ready to be your little shadow. She absolutely loves people and gets along wonderfully with dogs, even the ones who are 5-times her size!

She gets along great with an 80-lb resident dog and is surprisingly brave for such a little girl. When she first arrived, she was nervous about doors and stairs, but by her second day, she was confidently running up and down the stairs like she had always lived here. She is also very comfortable being handled and even patiently allows her paws to be cleaned after walks.

Lantana has been picking up potty training quickly and is learning to do her business outdoors. She does have one funny little quirk: she prefers to pee in tall patches of grass! She can be a little unsure of loud or sudden noises and may run to you for reassurance. Luckily, she is very food motivated! If she hears a treat bag or anything crinkling, she comes running. Outdoors, she doesn’t always take treats, but verbal praise works just as well. And when you give her some love, her entire butt wiggles with happiness.

Her crate has quickly become her cozy little den. She will often run into it on her own when she wants to relax, and she sleeps wonderfully overnight in her crate. She has also done great when left alone and has not shown any signs of distress or cried while her fosters are away.

And perhaps the best part? Lantana is ready to give her people the cutest, most gentle little kisses. She is sweet, affectionate, and just wants to be close to her humans.

Lantana is currently being fostered in Brooklyn, NY and her adoption fee is $550.

"To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal."
