Meet Phoenix!

Phoenix is a 4 year old, 30-lb Mini Goldendoodle who would like to be a lap blanket, if that's a job you're hiring for.

His superpowers include bonding hard and fast once he trusts you, being unfailingly gentle (there is not an aggressive bone in this dog), and a truly excellent off switch. He has puppyish zoomies indoors, but the second you sit down he is asleep in your lap. About an hour of walking a day and he's a happy guy. He's crate trained, housetrained, and has been sweet with kids.

He is still unsure about new people, busy or loud environments, and other dogs, who he'd rather politely avoid than greet on walks. He loves quiet evenings, lap time, and shadowing his person from room to room like a very fluffy security detail.

In terms of house training, Phoenix has a shy bladder and will sometimes have an accident when he's meeting someone new or feeling overwhelmed. It's nerves rather than a training gap, and it improves as he settles in.

Some of his favorite things are his people.

If you're looking for a gentle, devoted couch companion who will pick you as his person and then never leave your side, Phoenix might be your perfect match.

Phoenix is currently being fostered in Manhattan, NY. His adoption fee is $600.

Phoenix is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.

To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
