Flapjack is a small dog who came to us as a stray in very matted condition. We don't know how long he had gone without grooming, but the severe matting was likely uncomfortable and may have contributed to his sensitivity around handling. He has since been shaved, and we hope this fresh start helps him feel much more comfortable.

Flapjack is still learning that people can be trusted. At this time, he allows only minimal handling, primarily when needed to take him out for walks. He will sit with his handlers and can enjoy their company, but he gives very clear warnings when he is uncomfortable with being touched, including growling.

Because of his history and current sensitivities, Flapjack will need an experienced foster or adopter who understands canine body language and is comfortable working patiently with a dog who needs time, space, and trust-building. He will do best with someone who can respect his boundaries, avoid forcing interactions, and allow him to progress at his own pace.
