Meet Pheonix!
Pheonix is a playful girl with a fun side that really shines once she gets comfortable! After being surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her, she's looking for a fresh start with someone who will appreciate her personality and help her feel secure. She's shown us that she can make friends with other dogs and enjoys a good game of chase, and with the right person by her side, this girl is ready to spread her wings and find her forever home.
My Ideal Home
Pheonix would love a home where she can enjoy daily walks, playtime, and plenty of fun activities with her people. She's a medium energy girl who will benefit from enrichment, puzzle toys, and positive reinforcement training to keep her mind busy and help her practice good manners. She's used to going potty both outside and on wee wee pads, so her new family can continue helping her build a consistent routine.
Good with Other Pets?
Pheonix has enjoyed playful interactions with several dogs at ACC, including games of chase and playful wrestling. Her previous owner noted that she can become uncomfortable when familiar dogs get too close to her face, and she can get excited when she spots dogs or small animals on walks. Thoughtful introductions and positive training around other animals will be important to help her succeed.
Good with Kids?
Pheonix would do best in an adult only home due to concerns reported in her previous home and observed in care. She can be a little unsure in new situations, so a calm environment with people who understand her boundaries will help her feel comfortable.
Things to Know
Pheonix may take a little time to warm up, but she has shown that she can become more comfortable with gentle encouragement and attention on her own terms. She can jump up when excited and may need some help practicing calmer greetings. Nail trims are especially difficult for her, so patient, positive training will be important when it comes to grooming. Her family also reported some destructive behavior, so enrichment and a thoughtful routine will help keep her happily occupied. With understanding, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement, Pheonix is ready to rise to the occasion and find a home where she can truly shine!
