Freddy was surrendered into care as a stray, so her past behavior in a home enviornment is unknown. Freddy has presented as highly fearful and mostly avoidant of handlers. When handlers attempt to conduct her handling assessment, she has a tucked tail and will move away. In her crate, she has been observed to bite on the crate door, pulling it in. While a staff member was trying to secure the door, she caught their finger in the process. The bite did not break skin but the staff member did feel the pressure from her teeth. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
