Meet Arlo!
Arlo is a friendly, affectionate dog who came to us after living in a home with her family. She loves being around people, enjoys attention, and is happiest when she's included in the action. Whether she's exploring on a walk or leaning in for pets, Arlo is eager to spend time with her favorite humans and is ready to find a family who will help her settle into her next chapter.
My Ideal Home
Arlo would thrive in an adult-only home where she can receive regular exercise, enrichment, and continued positive reinforcement training. She is an active, intelligent dog who will benefit from structure and consistency, particularly when working on impulse control and leash manners. Because she can become anxious when left alone, a family prepared to help her build confidence and provide plenty of mental stimulation will help her succeed.
Good with Kids?
Although Arlo previously lived with children, we are recommending an adult-only home due to her history of resource guarding and sensitivity to certain handling.
Good with Other Pets?
Arlo has lived successfully with familiar dogs in the past but has shown discomfort and reactivity toward unfamiliar dogs in the shelter. She should be the only pet in her new home and is not recommended for homes with cats or other small animals. Dog parks are also not recommended.
Overall Health
Healthy overall.
Behavior Determination
Level 4 - Experienced Adopters. Arlo has a history of resource guarding, anxiety, handling sensitivity, and reactivity toward unfamiliar dogs. She will do best with adopters who can continue using positive reinforcement training, respect her boundaries, and provide appropriate management while she adjusts to her new home. With structure and patience, Arlo has the potential to be a wonderful companion.
Other Fun Facts
Arlo loves car rides, enjoys learning (especially when treats are involved!), and is a social, affectionate companion who likes to stay close to her people. Volunteers describe her as easy to handle outside of her kennel, and she enjoys sniffy walks, leaning in for affection, and bouncing happily alongside her favorite humans.
