Liv is at risk due to behavioral reasons. During intake, Liv has been highly fearful which has escalate to thrashing, screaming, alligator rolling, and biting the leash. In kennel, when handlers would approach, Liv would begin to growl at them. In one instance while in the yard with a handler approached, Liv lunged towards them and snapped at their leg. This did not break skin due to Liv only getting the handler's pants. When returning to kennel, Liv is observed to balk, retreat from the handler, and begin head whipping. Recently, Liv has warmed up slowly, taking treats, approachs loose and wiggly for pets, and with taking time has been introduced to more staff again. Medically, Liv has started treatment for CIRDC.
Liv arrived at MACC as a stray with no known history. During intake, Liv was observed to escalate to thrashing, screaming, alligator rolling, and biting the leash. Over time Liv has begun to warm up to familiar handlers. She is receptive to coaxing, and once out of kennel Liv will allow contact with a slow approach. When returning to kennel Liv is observed to balk, retreat from the handler and begin head whipping. Due to the detailed behavior, we recommend an experienced adult-only home.
