Sam was surrendered to the care centers by her owners due to their housing situation. She is described by her previous owners as a quiet, smart dog who loves to learn, and enjoys car rides and spending quality time with her people. During her time at the care centers, Sam has shown high levels of fear in her interactions with staff, consistently displaying a low body and tucked tail, avoidance of being leashed or handled, and has escalated to baring her teeth during her medical exam. Due to her fearfulness, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
