October was surrendered into care due to being in a boarding facility for 2 months. His caretakers described him as a very active and playful dog, who could also be a lazy couch potato at times. He reportedly loves bath time and water, going for a car ride, and any food or treat he is offered. October was noted to display a variety of behavior concerns while in their care, including resource guarding of food or treats, growling and hard barking at strangers and unfamiliar dogs, and on-leash reactivity to strangers and dogs. His reaction on walks was to hard bark, growl, bare teeth, or lip curl. During his intake, October was loose and wiggly with staff. Since his intake, October has been loose-bodied with handlers, allowing pets, and accepting of treats. Due to all noted concerns displayed in a home environment, the behavior department recommends October be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance on safely manage/modify any behavior October presents with outside of the care centers.
